Barcelona have added this Arsenal striker to their squad after the failed pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.
FC Barcelona have enjoyed a perfect start to their La Liga campaign, winning the first two games with a combined margin of 7-0 after conceding zero goals thus far. However, things are still happening away from the pitch as Barcelona made yet another signing to add to a busy summer that has already seen them spend close to $200 million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish club are now adding Gabriel Jesus to their squad after signing the Brazilian striker for €10 million from the English defending champions Arsenal. The move comes after Barcelona’s failed pursuit for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who has been a long-term target for the club.

Alvarez even informed Atletico that he wishes to leave the club. However, Diego Simeone and company have ruled out a sale to their domestic rivals and have instead pushed the Argentine to choose between Arsenal or Atletico.
Regardless, Barcelona now appear to have moved to solve their striker problem at least for the short term. Jesus arrives to Barcelona after spending four seasons with Arsenal, during which time he scored 21 goals and assisted another 11 in a total of 84 appearances, 50 of which were starts.
The Brazilian international has not been a regular at the English club in recent seasons and was limited to just 14 league appearances last season in the EPL due to injuries. However, Jesus brings a unique skillset to an already stacked team .
Barcelona have already added the likes of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Rodri for a combined total of around €170 million. They have also sold several players, most notably Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati, with long-term striker Robert Lewandowski also leaving on a free transfer.
While Barcelona aimed to replace the Polish veteran with a World Cup winner in Alvarez, Jesus appears to have been the easier signing this window and will travel to Barcelona on Monday for his medical.
